If you’ve been hanging out around evangelicals for the last two years, you’ve increasingly heard of this new concept. It’s called “the idolatry of marriage” and apparently if you’ve ever been bad at friending singles, you definitely have it. If you hang out in large groups of other married people, you’re probably spreading it. So mask up y’all, and remember that marriage-distancing is love for neighbor.

In a time when many inside the church as well as those outside the church sound virtually the same on the topic of marriage and singleness, how do we keep guard over our own mouths and relationships? How do we get over our knee-jerky need to tell our sad, single friend that crusty old line about how their aching loneliness is actually a gift? Let’s chat!
